| Q: |
How do I buy a gun?
"What do I have to do to purchase a firearm from One Shot, Inc.?" |
| A: |
Legally, when an individual wants to buy a gun through the mail he must have it shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder. However if you do not have an FFL you can still order from One Shot, Inc.
1) Find a local gun store or other FFL holder in your area and get permission to have a gun shipped to them from us. Most dealers will do a transfer for you for a small fee ($20-$30 is the average).
2) Have your chosen dealer mail or fax* a signed copy of their FFL, including their phone number and contact name. Also be sure that they reference who, and what item the license is being sent for. Once the FFL is received, One Shot, Inc. will mail your firearm to the receiving dealer's business address, and you can pick up your gun from them. All paperwork is done when you pick up your gun.
*Faxes are only accepted if they are clear and legible when received. If the copy received is not clear, the dealer must instead mail a copy. |

How do I buy ammunition?
"What do I have to do to purchase firearm ammunition from One Shot, Inc.?" |
| A: |
One Shot Inc. will ship ammo to anyone over 18 (21 for handgun ammunition), directly to your home address if you like. Persons over 18 but under 21 may order ammunition for a long gun. Handgun ammunition is restricted to sale to persons 21 or older. After your order is placed, you will be contacted with a request for a photo copy of a valid state or federal issued ID. An adult over the age of 18 for rifle ammunition, or 21 for handgun ammunition needs to be present at the delivery address to sign for the ammunition when delivered. |

| Q: |
Why do I have to provide ID to buy ammuition?
"Why does One Shot, Inc. require a photocopy of a valid state or federal ID in order for me to purchase ammunition?" |
| A: |
Most are aware of the threat of litigation hanging over the heads of firearms manufacturers and dealers. The ID and date of birth are entered on each ammunition invoice so that in the event that One Shot, Inc. is accused of selling ammunition to under age persons, we can use the records to prove otherwise. |

| Q: |
Are there any restrictions on what magazines I can own?
"Are there any restrictions as far as what firearm magazines I am legally permitted to own?" |
| A: |
On the federal level, there are no restrictions on what type of magazines one may own. Some states, however, have laws in place that regulate the capacity of firearm magazines. California, New York, and New Jersey are just a few examples of such states. In these states, it may be a felony to possess a firearm magazine capable of holding more than ten (10) rounds of ammunition. One Shot, Inc. is not capable of keeping up to date information on all state, and local restrictions.
It is the buyer's responsibility to add a note in the comment box when placing an order for a firearm that may come with magazines that they cannot own, in order to notify us that a special version with ten (10) round magazines needs to be shipped. Othwerise, the weapon will be shipped with standard, normal capacity magazines. |

| Q: |
Aren't silencers and machine guns illegal? Why do you sell them?
"I thought silencers and machine guns were illegal, or that you at least needed a Class 3 license to own them. Why are you selling them?" |
| A: |
Contrary to popular belief, it is not illegal for one to own a sound suppressor ("silencer"), or a machine gun. There is, however, extra paperwork and money required in legally obtaining such an item.
Generally speaking, as long as you can legally purchase a handgun, you can fairly easily obtain a suppressor or machine gun. It should be noted, however, that only machine guns located in the Transferable NFA Weapons section can be owned by civilians. All others are restricted to purchase by law enforcement agencies or U.S. military entities only. All suppressors ("silencers") listed on our website can be legally sold to individuals.
Another popular myth is that one needs to hold a "Class 3", or "Federal Firearms" license, in order to purchase a machine gun or silencer. This is not true. A Class 3 Federal Firearms License is required for dealing, manufacturing, and importing firearms for the express purpose of revenue generation - not collecting. It is a felony to obtain a Class 3 License for the purpose of enhancing your collection.
If you would like highly in-depth information regarding the legal status and purchase of silencers, machine guns, and other "NFA" items, we reccomend the Bardwell NFA FAQ |
